This new book of cases, materials and commentary on contract law aims to provide students with a varied and rich selection of materials for the study of contract law. The authors' approach is to integrate the doctrinal rules of contract developed by statute and at common law with modern theoretical writings in order to give the student a proper understanding of the rules of contract and the manner in which these rules operate in practice. This book goes beyond existing textbooks and casebooks in offering a far broader selection of materials and a more challenging set of theoretical approaches than can be found elsewhere. The materials are linked by lucid and critical commentary and each chapter is supported by notes on further reading and by exam-style questions. The book is divided into four parts: the introduction; the creation of contracts; contract, power, and justice; and the ending of contracts. Within each part the traditional components of contract law are looked at in separate chapters. This book is an ideal teaching book for first-year undergraduates studying contract law for the first time.
