Analytical and Quantitative Cardiology: Proceedings of the Tenth Goldberg Workshop Held in Haifa, Israel, December 2-5, 1996, Vol. 430

The focus of the conference was the pathway from basic genetics to cardiac function, highlighting the interface between structure and function at all levels of the cardiac system. The 30 papers strive to combine the analytical system approach and engineering principles with the multiple molecular and/or genetic factors and stimuli and the macroscale interactions that determine cardiac function. They cover molecular signalling, the contractile mechanisms and energetics, cardiac mechanics and flow dynamics, vascular structure and remodeling, myocardial structure and function, electrical activation and propagation, and modeling the cardionome. . Sideman, Samuel, DSc (Technion-Israel Institute of Technology); Beyar, Rafael, MD, DSc (Technion-Israel Institute of Technology)The contributors represent the specialties of physiology, bioengineering, pharmacology, biophysics, cardiology, and pathology. Most come from universities and academic medical centers in the U.S., Israel, and the U.K. Institutions prominently represented include Duke, Univ of Vermont, Georgetown, Univ of Oxford, Haddassah Univ, and Chaim Sheba Medical Center.
