Dynamic Radiology of the Abdomen: Normal and Pathologic Anatomy

The book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations. This extensively revised and updated book is a classic text covering radiology of the abdomen as it relates to the progression of disease within an organ and from one organ to another. The book provides a systematic application of anatomic and dynamic principles to the practical understanding and diagnosis of intraabdominal disease. The full range of imaging modalities are addressed, from plain films and conventional contrast studies to CT, US, MRI and endoscopic ultrasonography. New to this edition: a chapter on staging GI malignancy and dozens of new illustrations. A detailed cross-referenced index is featured. This is a comprehensive book on radiologic anatomy with information on abdominal imaging of the localization and spread of disease. The purpose is to provide a comprehensive text on the dynamics and concepts needed to understand the intra-abdominal imaging of disease. These worthy objectives are met by the author. This book is written primarily for radiologists-in-training and abdominal imagers. It would also benefit surgeons and anatomists greatly. This high-quality text is well organized and well written. To maintain pace with the recent clinical and technological advances in abdominal imaging, many changes have been made to this new edition of a very popular and classic text. It has been updated with over 520 new illustrations and six new chapters and expanded by more than 180 pages. The numerous illustrations, large and of high quality, are well selected to show the normal and pathologic states and include gross sections and drawings in black-and-white as well as color. The images include conventional radiographs, angiograms, barium examinations, CT, MRI, US, nuclear medicine, endoscopy, and laparoscopic and intraoperative ultrasonography. All aspects of abdominal imaging necessary to fully understand the normal and pathologic anatomy and localization and spread of disease are covered in great detail. This is a wonderful contribution to the radiology community. The author's observations and anatomic/radiological correlations continue to make his book an invaluable teaching resource. Readers who, like me, enjoy learning about the spread of disease leading to the Grey Turner sign, Cullen sign, Sister Mary Joseph node, Krukenberg tumors, and much more, will enjoy reading thistext.
