Dermatoxicology

This revised and re-worked volume constitutes a major contribution to the field of dermatotoxicology. Researches and clinicians in the field will find this an invaluable resource.

An international group of specialists wrote the 53 chapters of the 6th edition of this substantial and completely revised reference, which was edited by Hongbo Zhai and Maibach, both affiliated with the U. of California in San Francisco. The editors also co-wrote many of the chapters. Among the topics new to this edition are barrier creams, cosmetic reactions, UV radiation exposure, electron paramagnetic resonance, and hazardous substances in soil and water. Introductory chapters describe aspects of skin permeability, occlusion and barrier function, percutaneous absorption of complex chemical mixtures, anatomical factors affecting barrier function, and the role of lipids in percutaneous absorption. The chapters are grouped into concepts and methods.
