The author states that the purpose of the book is to emphasize the basic principles of surgery as they relate to aesthetic surgery. This book is written for plastic surgery residents-in-training and practicing plastic surgeons. The book may be of more value to younger plastic surgeons who wish to use one source to review the cause and effect of certain problems in the facial region and their correction. The book has black-and-white photographs and pertinent drawings that illustrate important concepts. The references cite classic articles that were written during the last century and newer articles that have recently been published in aesthetic facial surgery. The book accomplishes its objective of relating facial aesthetic concepts to basic surgical principles. It presents both old and new concepts into one concise package. It is certainly a worthwhile contribution to any young plastic surgeon's library.
