Clinical Synopsis of Moss and Adams' Heart Disease in Infants, Children, and Adolescents: Including the Fetus and Young Adult

This book is a condensed version of the 1824 page, two-volume, fifth edition of the ""Moss and Adams"" textbook of Heart Disease in Infants, Children, and Adolescents. The Moss and Adams textbook has traditionally been the ""gold standard"" textbook of pediatric heart disease. This condensed version is certainly more portable and will likely serve as a handy reference on hospital rounds. The authors intend to provide a condensed clinical synopsis to appeal to a broader audience (e.g., medical students, residents, nurses). The larger two-volume edition appealed primarily to practicing pediatric and adult cardiologists. The authors successfully provide a condensed yet complete review of pediatric and congenital heart disease. For each topic a brief review of physiology, pathology, clinical features (including: electrocardiographic, radiographic, angiographic, and echocardiographic findings) is presented. This synopsis does not contain as many illustrations as the two-volume text, but illustrations are adequately represented. Illustrations (including echocardiographs) are in black-and-white. Hopefully, this will reduce the wholesale price of the book. This synopsis will be ideal for a brief, rapid, and easily accessible review of a specific topic. However, the reader will need to refer to the larger two-volume text for complete coverage of a subject. This synopsis will provide an excellent manual for medical students and residents during a pediatric cardiology rotation. It will serve as an efficient review in preparation for Pediatric Cardiology Board Examinations. I would recommend this synopsis to all health care professionals involved in the care of patients with pediatric orcongenital heart diseases. A distillation of the current 1,824-page Fifth Edition of . Primarily focused on fundamentals of diagnosis and therapy, the volume discusses: diagnostic tools, therapeutic principles, 16 specific cardiovascular abnormalities, and age-specific problems. Also included is a series of diagrams of common cardiac operations. . Emmanouilides, George C., MD (UCLA Medical School); Allen, Hugh D., MD (Ohio State Univ); Riemenschneider, Thomas A., MD; Gutgesell, Howard P., MD (Univ of Virginia)
