Interventional Neuroradiology

This is a reference and technical manual for the practice of interventional neuroradiology. The authors employ illustrative case vignettes, clinical, pathological, and technical tables, and an annotated bibliography and extensive index in order to provide a useful and accessible resource for those ""with the knowledge, skills and experience to perform these tasks."" The purpose is to provide an accessible reference to the variety of procedures for treating disease processes that are now treatable using interventional techniques. Stressing techniques, potential difficulties, and complications are discussed. It is designed for the practicing neurointerventionalist and for those in training. Its focus is on practical technical tips, patient management issues, and critical information needed for safe treatment. Thus, diagnosis, pathology, and demographics are concise and limited to review. Residents will find this book of value as a supplement to more basic diagnostic texts. This book describes the fundamentals of devices, embolic agents, anatomy, neurology, pharmacology, techniques, and potential complications necessary for understanding the practice of interventional neuroradiology. The annotated table of contents and the index that includes figures and tables facilitate localization of the topic of interest. Extensive figures with case vignettes are an effective means of communicating practical tips as though we were in the room with the authors. Tables are useful and easy to access. Authors' notes are used throughout to emphasize points of controversy and/or provide technical tips. The authors have produced a book of excellent quality and diversity of subject matter focused on thepractical, safe, and effective treatment of disease by the neurointerventionalist. They do not attempt to replace previous texts, which are more broadly focused on anatomy, diagnosis, epidemiology, and treatment considerations. Instead, these authors have provided a superb reference to key elements in interventional neuroradiology. Connors, J.J., III, MD (Louisiana State Univ); Wojak, Joan C., MD (Louisiana State Univ)
