Delee and Drez's Orthopaedic Sports Medicine: Principles and Practice

Athletes, subject to particular injuries in training and competition, differ from much of the population in that they are driven to return to activity; their treatment and rehabilitation must incorporate these considerations. In this two-volume reference the first 18 chapters are devoted to topics that include basic science and injury of muscles, tendons, ligaments, articular cartilage, menisci, and bones; biomechanics; medications; research design and statistics; risk assessment; surgical principles; rehabilitation; complex pain syndromes; and special considerations of pediatric, adolescent, and female athletes. Subsequent chapters address injuries to various parts of the body. Editor/orthopedists Lee (U. of Texas), Drez (Louisiana State University), and Miller (U. of Virginia) have overseen the work of a couple hundred contributors.
