Master Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery: Fractures

The book contains predominantly color illustrations, with some black-and-white illustrations. This new volume of the prestigious Master Techniques in Orthopaedic Surgery series presents the most advanced and successful surgical techniques for treatment of fractures of the upper extremity, lower extremity, pelvis, and acetabulum. The book is written by the leading surgeons, who discuss each surgical procedure as if they were working side by side with the reader:explaining the indications and rationale for the procedure, giving step-by-step instructions on technique, identifying pitfalls and potential complications, and offering valuable tips for improving surgical results. This volume is thoroughly illustrated with full-color intraoperative photographs, as well as drawings by a noted medical illustrator. This is one of a ten-volume series providing an in-depth surgical technique atlas. Each technique is presented by an acknowledged master. The stated purpose is to help the practitioner deal with common surgical problems. The target audience is orthopedic surgeons and residents. This book is loaded with exquisite drawings and color intraoperative photos that provide a step by step surgical instruction manual. The section on local muscle flaps in most helpful. This volume is far and away the best of its type. I have seen many similar books but this is the ""master."" I highly recommend this entire series to any surgeon and all hospital or training program libraries. This CD-ROM presents the most advanced and successful techniques in orthopaedic surgery, along with invaluable tips from expert surgeons. It contains animated visual summaries of each procedure including three-dimensional videos and images, voice narration, and coordinated labeling; full screen display of summaries and illustrations; the complete content from the text version; and a virtual pictorial review and multimedia experience of a vast array of essential surgical procedures and techniques. Winner of the 3D Expo Award in the scientific/medical category.
