Previous editions of this text/reference are cited in Brandon- Hill. The aim of editor Bailey (U. of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston), his editorial team, and the long list of contributing authors has been to create and refine a reference that is also a "learning system" for the specialty—something more than a textbook—that shapes essential information into consistent and balanced chapters supported by summary tables, clear illustrations, and chapter summaries. The two volumes comprise 191 chapters arranged in sections on basic science, pediatric otolaryngology, new frontiers, head and neck surgery, otology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and miscellaneous topics (medical ethics rounds, eponyms in otolaryngology).
