Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology

& The third edition (from 1998) was cited in Brandon-Hill. The fourth edition has been extensively revised to reflect new treatments and research, in part as a reflection of the addition of two new editors (all four editors are specialists in the US). Among the 92 authored chapters are many new topics, including molecular cancer and radiation biology, pathophysiology of solid tumors, 3D conformal therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy treatment planning, methodology of clinical trials, the role of radiation therapy in the treatment of adult and childhood leukemias, non- Hodgkin's lymphoma, intraoperative radiation therapy, hyperthermia, and combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the management of locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Each chapter includes b&w photos, drawings, and diagrams, as well as an exhaustive list of references. The authors are specialists mainly in the US, though several are in Canada, Europe and Asia.
