Handbook of Neuroradiology: Brain and Skull, second edition, by Dr. Anne G. Osborn and Dr. Karen A. The book is divided into eight major areas, which in turn are divided into 62 chapters. This book is a second edition; the first edition was published in 1991. This book is designed to revise and update information presented in the 1991 edition. Excellent drawings and tables are provided that summarize important points. It is intended to serve as a companion volume to the textbook Diagnostic Neuroradiology written by Dr. Osborn and containing numerous imaging studies and illustrations of pathology. A summary of the essentials in neuroradiology is needed as a reference for radiology residents, radiology staff members, and neuroradiologists and for clinicians and housestaff officers who have to order neuroradiologic studies and deal with abnormalities of the brain and skull. Dr. Osborn has written landmark articles and textbooks on topics in neuroradiology. She can explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manor. This book is well illustrated with high-quality illustrations. The reference lists at the back of each chapter are current and complete. A nice feature of the book is that a list of key concepts is provided at the beginning of each chapter. This is an excellent book that summarizes neuroradiologic topics dealing with the brain and skull. It provides a valuable source of information for anyone dealing with neuroradiologic imaging and anatomy and pathologic processes related to the brain and skull. The tables and illustrations are excellent. When this book is combined withDr. Osborn's companion textbook, the reader will be provided with virtually all the factual knowledge available in neuroradiology concerning sectional imaging, anatomy, and pathologic processesand with illustrations of abnormalities. Revisions in the second edition are extensive and add to its high quality.
