Urological Radiology: Radiological Diagnosis of Urological Diseases: Plain Film, Sonography, Angiography, CT, and MRI

This text is an illustrated review of basic uroradiology. Although it includes newer imaging modalities such as ultrasound and MRI, the majority of cases are conventional contrast studies. The purpose of this book is to provide a general text illustrating a wide variety of common urological problems. The targeted group is primarily radiology residents, but it would also be useful for urology residents. Each chapter begins with a brief (1 to 4 pages) overview of the topic. This is followed by an extensive number of examples. Most cases emphasize conventional contrast images. Where appropriate, these are supplemented with angiography, CT, US, or MRI. Most images are of good quality, although several of the ultrasound images do not reflect state-of-the-art scans. Many of the cases are accompanied by nice line drawings and detailed captions. This book can serve as an overview of uroradiology for a beginning resident. It is primarily a pictorial review. Although the spectrum of chapters is quite broad, the text is very brief, with only a cursory discussion of each topic. Therefore, this book cannot be used to learn techniques or as a reference. A profusely illustrated textbook that introduces urological radiology to both practicing and trainee radiologists, and serves as a reference for specialists in urology. The authors examine the use of the latest equipment and techniques, as well as older but still highly valuable methods, and explain the strengths and limitations of each. The authors then explain the best way to handle the radiological aspects of the most important diseases encountered in North America and Europe, as well as conditions such as urological tuberculosis, which are more frequently found in other parts of the world. Lohr, Eberhard, MD (Univ of Essen, Germany); Sievers, Klaus W., MD (Univ of Essen, Germany)The contributors represent the specialties of diagnostic radiology, and urology. All but one of the contributors are from Univ of Essen.
